Social media is becoming an increasingly popular choice for marketers who want to promote their brand while connecting with a network of brand followers and fans. While social media itself is the perfect way to indirectly connect to consumers through sharing and engagement – that engagement can be taken to a more promotional level through actual advertising on social media.
Social networks like Facebook and Twitter have recently expanded their advertising offerings as more and more brands are looking to grow their social media following.
The core of Facebook’s ad offering is based on their version of PPC (pay per click) advertising. Facebook allows brands with operational Facebook pages to set up PPC campaigns that can be targeted to very specific audiences. Just like Google’s PPC advertising, Facebook allows advertisers to set a budget that can be tracked along with other analytics in real time.
Advertisers can target users based on demographics such as gender, age, nationality, or even the interests that users mention in their profiles. Strategi marketing online saat ini di media sosial, bagaimana postingan produk bisa memiliki engagement rate luaxs, cara promosi di instagram menjangkau banyak orang dan memiliki tingkat interaksi dengan followers/subscribers tinggi. Facebook also provides a way for businesses to track their ad activity and growth – the best way to see what’s working and what isn’t for your customers.
Facebook also recently rolled out a new feature similar to Twitter’s promoted tweets called promoted posts. Facebook posts are usually only shown to a small number of fans (around 16%) but this new feature allows advertisers to show posts made on their Timeline to a much larger share of their fan base and even friends of their fans.
Promote your brand on Twitter
Advertising on Twitter is centered on the program of promoted tweets. Promoted Tweets are regular Tweets purchased by advertisers who want to reach a wider group of users or to trigger engagement from their existing followers.
Promoted Tweets are clearly labeled as Promoted when advertisers pay for their placement on Twitter. In every other respect, Promoted Tweets act like regular Tweets and can be retweeted, replied to, favorited, etc.
Promoted Tweets can appear in various parts of the site including in people’s Titter feeds.
Here are the different ‘places’ where promoted tweets can be displayed:
- At the top of the relevant search results
- In Search Results for Promoted Trends
- Home Timeline. In some cases, Promoted Tweets may be visible on a user’s timeline if the advertiser has promoted a Tweet that is relevant to that user.
- Official Twitter clients like Tweetdeck, Twitter for iphone
- Third party Twitter clients like Hootsuite
Twitter also recently launched a new feature called targeted tweets. This allows advertisers to send tweets to a specific audience without tweeting to all of the brand’s followers. Advertisers using targeted tweets can segment by location, device and platform.
Advertising on social media platforms is still a relatively new concept, but many brands are reaping a lot of benefits through the practice. When marketers consider the breadth of social networks and the amount of time people spend on these sites, it becomes clear why many brands want to build a presence through social media. Whether this is done by building followers organically through sharing interesting content and chatting with fans or through promoted updates and PPC, social media will continue to be a viable channel for brand building.
